The flagship of SUVs for Toyota is still recognized on the road to this day, the Land Cruiser. Rugged, reliable, and well-designed are among the most common adjectives used to describe the Land Cruiser 80 series. This 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser VX limited model is a prime example of a perfect mix of modern luxury, packed in a beefy 90s rig. With only a piddly 126K verified and documented miles, this Toyota has plenty of life ahead. The original exterior color was Dark Gray Metallic (183) but the previous owner in Japan performed a full color change to Midnight Black. It was done well and all of the jambs are done as well. The only indication of the color swap in under the hood in the engine bay. The body is in good shape with only minor blemishes to note. Overall, it has been well taken care of for being almost 3 decades old and has passed the test of time. Off of a fresh oil and filter service along with a Virginia State Safety inspection, this 80 series is ready to travel the roads here in the US.
The cabin design is fantastic and can comfortably pack a family of 5 with ease. The VX limited model offered some nice upgrades in the interior. Power sunroof for some fresh air and sunshine, heated seats, and a factory coolbox in the center console just to name a few. The dash is free of any cracks or bubbling and has been well cared for. Cruise control is present but when tested on the highway, it would not work above 62MPH as the Japanese regulations at the time didn’t allow it. The headliner, door cards, and carpet are clear of stains, sagging, or excessive wear. The seats are wrapped in a gray two-tone cloth that is still soft to the touch. The driver benefits from a lumbar support adjustment on the side to make the commute more comfortable. No stains or rips were detected along with no major bolster wear. The gauges are simple and easy to read and you also get a compass and altimeter to help you navigate off the beaten path. The A/C blows cold and the heat is ready for the upcoming cold season. Power amenities include locks, electric windows, mirror adjustments, and power-folding options which are all operable. The factory steering wheel was ditched for a woodgrain steering wheel which is a nice touch for such a tidy interior. The audio was upgraded to a Kenwood head unit for all your audio needs. The rear seats can fold to increase storage space along with the spacious cargo area. Overall, the previous owner took exceptional care of this vehicle and it shows.
The powerplant under the bonnet of this Land Cruiser is the gasoline 4.0L I6 3F-E engine. The mechanicals is simple if you prefer to work on your own vehicles, but you can also take it to any local mechanic if you’d prefer. The 4-speed automatic transmission shifts seamlessly throughout the gears and the power is linear. A turn of the key and this rig fires right up with the assistance of a new 12V battery installed here at our dealership. The suspension rides great and is forgiving on potholes of all sizes on and off-road. If you like taking trails or beach terrain, this rig is equipped with front and rear LSD and a center locking differential when your friends need help out of a sticky situation. The brakes are confident when applied to easily slow this Land Cruiser to a complete stop. The steering is light and for being on a truck chassis, and it rides surprisingly comfortably. The wheels are wrapped in new Falken tires that look great and will give you tens of thousands of miles on the road ahead. Retail ready for the next owner, the Toyota 80 series is one tough contender still to this day.
