Toyota customers typically keep their vehicles for hundreds of thousands of miles and never part with them. This is mostly due to Toyota’s notorious reliability and if there is an issue they are inexpensive to repair. The Toyota Land Cruiser is easy to own, parts are readily available, and are very reliable. This 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 series is a great example with some cool mods already done by the previous owner. The original color was Blue Slate Metallic (183) but was changed to Quicksilver by the previous owner in Japan. The body is in good shape showing very few rock chips and blemishes associated with normal driving in Japan. The gauge cluster was swapped by the previous owner in Japan so this vehicle is being sold with unknown miles. The original bumper was replaced for a more rugged and trail ready aftermarket unit to help protect the front end from brush and limbs when you go off-road. 16″ Alloy wheels replaced the boring stock wheels and we wrapped them with 33″ Falken All-terrain tires, to help achieve traction on and off the beaten path. This turn key Land Cruiser is rugged enough to tackle the trails on the weekend and comfortable enough to drive to work during the week!
The interior of this Land Cruiser is spacious and comfy for all 5 occupants. There are no concerns when it comes to leg and headroom throughout the cabin of this rig. The seats are trimmed with a soft gray cloth interior and have held up well over time, revealing no rips or heavy wear on the material. The headliner is clear of stains and sagging, and the carpet is in good shape. The door cards show no significant wear or rips and the dash has no cracking or bubbling. The VX limited model comes with an electric sunroof, windows, locks, and mirrors which all function as they should. Cruise control is also a nice driver convenience, to allow you to sit back and cruise and the coolbox is fully functional to keep your drinks cool for those long drives. Automatic climate control is straightforward, with the A/C blowing cold in this blistering heat, and the heat ready to warm you back up in the upcoming winter. The OEM rain guards will keep you dry when you want some fresh air when it is raining. The rear seats can fold to allow more cargo room if you need it. The factory steering wheel was ditched for a MOMO woodgrain steering wheel. The radio was replaced with a Panasonic head unit, but sadly it no longer operates. Overall, the interior is tidy and was well kept in its previous life overseas. The compass and altimeter gauges are located near your sunroof controls and give you accurate readings when you are exploring the trails.
The powerplant underneath the bonnet of this LC 80 is the 1FZ-FE I6 petrol engine. The mechanicals are straightforward, with parts available here in North America. The engine fires right up with a turn of the key thanks to the new 12V battery we installed and should last for years to come. While here at Japanese Classics, our trained technicians also installed a new alternator to support the new battery. The suspension is responsive and accepts the road imperfections with ease. The brakes are confident thanks to the new front and rear brake pads, and easily bring this rig to a stop. The 4-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly throughout the gears and the power is linear. There is no problem getting this Land Cruiser up to highway speeds. Toyota’s rugged VX limited is a perfect combination of luxury and ruggedness all ready for you to make your own!
