Van living is all the rage here in the US, and we at J-Spec Auto have a freshly imported example of one of the most well equipped and recognizable vans ever offered for sale overseas! Those who are well travelled may recognize this as an H100 Toyota Hiace, a stout, utilitarian transport van that was unfortunately never offered for sale here in the USA. This particular Hiace, an early 1989 model was optioned from the factory in “Super Custom” trim, offering many add ons and luxury features over the base model. The exterior appearance of this van is nothing short of timeless. High roof, short wheelbase, this Hiace turns heads wherever it goes. The only modification to the exterior is a set of Work Euroline wheels, a classic JDM style that compliments the Hiace’s boxy body surprisingly well. The exterior is finished in the original coat of light blue paint, with some panels replaced with units off a white car. While the body is straight, we are leaving this one as-is for the next owner to customize to their standards. This would also be a great candidate for any business looking to wrap their car in promotional graphics! While the outside is certainly interesting, the interior is really where the Hiace’s strengths lie. Swing open the massive sliding door and you’re met with more interior space and gadgets than most know what to do with! The Hiace features three rows of sliding, reclining seats, a power sunroof, rear roof vents, power rear curtains, rear climate control, reading lights, the list goes on and on. This car is meant to roadtrip, haul, or whatever you put it up to! All interior materials, including the original seat fabric and interior plastics, are in excellent shape and hardly show any signs of having 30+ years of use on them. The previous Japanese owner of this Hiace clearly wanted to keep this one on the road for a lot of miles, and with only 186,708 original km’s on the clock we’d say it has room for many more. Toyota is known for their reliability, and the drivetrain on this van is no different. Under the front seat lies Toyota’s stout 1RZ-E 2.0 4 Cylinder engine. Paired to a sturdy 5 speed manual transmission, this van has no issues getting up to speed with reliability and ease. From the cockpit, this Hiace is a breeze to operate, we’d even say it would make a fantastic daily driver. Our trained technicians have given this vehicle a full inspection and it’s ready to attack any stateside roads with ease. If you’re looking for a unique hauler ready to make some memories, say Hi to this Toyota Ace.
